TarsDB Sense is not just a database or business intelligence platform. It is a stance against the modern trends characterized by over-engineering, cloud cost bloat, and opaque architectures in data management. Our starting point was shaped not by a technical problem but by a philosophical question: "How is it that querying billions of rows requires thousands of dollars in servers and hours-long data transfer pipelines?"
TARS is inspired by the word "Tarsal" in anatomy (the bones that are the main load-bearing and balancing elements of the body). We wanted to be that unshakeable foundation upon which everything in data architecture stands.
The modern analytics world promises speed, but achieves it by consuming incredible amounts of memory, breaking data singularity (single source of truth), and turning systems into a fragile microservice hell. We chose a different path. To overcome the disk I/O bottleneck, we took Rust's memory safety and embedded it directly into the browser with WebAssembly's unique capabilities.
Our goal was not to keep big data in the cloud, but to bring data directly to where it's processed. Zero copy, zero latency.
